Whatcha gonna do with all those prints?
That's the question I have been asking myself ever since I got addicted to my gelli plate printing. So, I set to work over the weekend to play with my big pile of prints, and here is what I did. And now, these projects have turned into classes for Saturday, June 14th at Frenzy Stamper in Scottsdale, AZ. You can take the cards class or the journal class for only $30. But if you take both, you get $5 off! Such a deal. Some I stitched, and some I glued. The reason for this is that I know there are people who like both, so during classes, I will teach both how to attach with glue and with thread. YOU can choose whichever works best for you. You do NOT need to be a sewer at all. If you want to rent a machine for the day, the fee is an additional $5 for the day. So grab your gelli prints and come play! If you have no prints, you can substitute with scrapbook paper pieces, or I can sell you some of my prints on class day. Most of the supplies are included, so that is a bonus. More details are in the sidebar. Feel free to email me if you have any questions.

A Brand New Class for July
Update 5-26-14 I went to the Diva's weekly challenge today because I had a little extra time on my hands today, with my ususal Monday plans on vacation. Turns out, the challenge is to tangle in a circular shape. Seeing as how I just put the rest of this post a few days ago, I decided to run with what I already had here as my circular tangled work. Then I will be off to do some more work in my altered books I have talking about. I actually finished one, and now my personal goal to finish the other and then add other things. One will be a book of quotes, and I believe the other will be used as a personal diary type journal. Time will tell, but they sure are fun.
I have a brand new class lined up for July. I call it Tangling in the Round, a take off on mandalas. As shown in my last post, I have been doing quarter rounds for a while. The two altered books I have been working on for over a year have many examples of them. Recently, I saw a way a fellow CZT, Cris Letourneau used her quarter rounds, by putting them all back together in a circle. I wrote to her, and got her permission to do the same. She uses different colors, tangles, and an overall design, but since what I wanted to do and what she did are somewhat similar, I felt it best to ask first. Thanks, Cris, for being such a sweetheart!
Shown in the pictures below are the individual tiles we create, and then one way they could be put back together to make an ensemble.
Class details are as follows:

Materials Provided by Teacher: Zentangle tiles, paper, and
takehome stepouts (directions) for each tangle,
The last picture is another sample of my tangling in the round from one of the altered books I have been mentioning in posts. It is not part of the class. I decided to add a few words on this one for another variation on what I was doing before. Fun stuff!

Meanwhile.....
In case you have been wondering what I have been up to since the last post, let's just say that I have been letting a lot of ideas simmer, some fabric, some paper, some Zen, some other things. Simmering is how some of my favorite things come to fruition. I usually wake up with an idea of what I want to do in the studio, but these are rarely things I just "dreamt up," rather things I have been allowing to jiggle around in my head for a while. While all that action has been happening, I have actually been getting other plans and projects done and taken care of, ones that boiled over, in a good way.
I have spent some time prepping to venture out to teach a Zentangle® class in Flagstaff in June. It sure will be nice to get away from what the heat always is here in AZ for June, as well as make some new Zen friends.
Another (wonderfully) time consuming thing I have been working on is for one of my upcoming classes at Art Unraveled this summer called Tangling on the Walls. We will be using a book by Sherwood Forlee called Walls Notebook. Every page in the book is a photo of a wall. I have been doing Zentangle Inspired Art on the pages, also known as ZIA. Even though I have plenty of pages done, almost 80 and way more than enough for class, I just keep happily working away. It is almost like I cannot stop myself. :) You can see a few of those pages here. The newest ones I am keeping a lid on until class. (If you are interested, details on my Art Unraveled Basic Zentangle class using ATCs are here, and my gelli plate class info. is here.)
Because the Walls book was so much fun, I started another altered/tangled book using Sabrina Ward Harrison's book called, The True and the Questions. It is a journal designed for people to add whatever they wish to the pages. About 65 pages are now tangled in my copy. I am including a few of those altered pages here today. I hope you enjoy them. Maybe this book will turn in to a class, too!

And, here it is: Haute Handbags goes Zen!
A while back I submitted an article and some of my work about tangling on fabric for Stampington's magazine: Haute Handbags. I got my complimentary copy today. Here is a sneak peak at one of the spreads! These bags are so fun! If you cannot find the bags in your area and want to give one a go, I have a few for sale in my etsy shop which include the pens you need. This is the link: https://www.etsy.com/shop/janeeileen

As usual, I didn't have my camera with me today at class, but luckily one of my students did. Here are their results for the Birds and Feathers class. Are they amazing or what?

A Few Notes and Diva Challenge 156
Two little pieces of business, then a share!
1. It is almost March, and I have a few Tangle a Day calendars that need a good home, so I am selling them in my Etsy shop with FREE shipping for only $19.50. Go here if you want one before they are gone. https://www.etsy.com/listing/176223363/free-shipping-zentangle-2014-tangle-a?
2. I still have a few openings in my class on Saturday. It is easy enough even for beginners. Please see the sidebar or the previous post for details.
3. Here is my submission for this week's Challenge from the Diva herself. I used a curvy grid as a background for some ATCs I am using in a swap. Then I tried to make the rest of it look like it was sitting on top of my curvy grid. I used a glitter pen, but I don't know how well the glitter will show. It was fun anyway. I know it is early in the week for this challenge, but I have been amazed by the awesomeness :) of the shares already there. I know this will be a great week to return again and again to see what else shows up!

A Sneak Preview: Birds and Feathers
Here is a sneak preview of what we will be working on at the next Zentangle class called Birds and Feathers. We will be working on multiple tangles in this one and doing a little shading as well. If time allows, we will do an additional set of birds. Samples of how you can take your learning and apply it to other birds and feathers will be discussed. The class details are as follows:

Tangle A Day Calendar for Zentangles/ FREE SHIPPING
UPDATE: FREE SHIPPING AS OF TODAY, 2-9-14
I just wanted to let anyone know who is interested that I just listed the rest of my Tangle a Day calendars in my etsy shop. I won't be ordering again until next year, so when these are gone, that's it for me. This link
https://www.etsy.com/listing/176223363/zentangle-tangle-a-day-calendar?ref=sr_gallery_7&ga_search_query=zentangle+calendar&ga_view_type=gallery&ga_ship_to=US&ga_search_type=all
will work, or you can click on the picture of the calendar in the sidebar and go straight there. This is the Tangle A Day Calendar created by CZT Carole Ohl. Use it to tangle the days away! Some ideas are to use it as practice to learn one new tangle each day, to use it for your best work, or a combination of things. No matter how you use it, it is great fun. Pages are thick enough so that a Micron brand pen and many others will not bleed through to the other side of the page! It has a sturdy back and is spiral bound so it will lie flat while you are working on your pages. Besides a space for your work each day, there is a month at a glance feature that comes before each month's spaces for your tangling, exemplar work done by Carole, and stepouts for some of the tangles.
Here are a few places I posted some of what I did in my calendars last year:
